Inf 103 week 5 assignment

Ashford 6: – Week 5 – Final Paper

Final Paper

For the Final Paper, you will select one topic from the list below. Choose a topic that is important or interesting to you, and write a five- to seven-page paper about it.
Instructions for completing the Final Paper:

  1. Please select from one of the      following topics, which are addressed in the course textbook, Introduction      to Computer Literacy:
    • Collaborative Technologies       (Chapter 1)
    • Ethical Concerns in Computing       (Chapter 1)
    • The Digital Divide (Chapter       1)
    • Open Source Software (Chapter       3)
    • The Impact of Mobile Computing       (Chapter 4)
    • Social Networks (Chapter       7)
    • Protecting Copyrights and       Intellectual Property (Chapter 8)
    • Plagiarism and Online       Education (Chapter 8)
    • The Future of Cloud Computing       (Chapter 9)
  2. Return to the textbook, and      review the pages in the chapter that pertain to your selected topic.
  3. Log in to the Ashford      University Library and conduct a search on that topic.
    • The INF103 tutorial will walk       you through the basic steps of doing a search for scholarly sources       within the Ashford University Library. A transcript of this video can be       accessed through your online course.
  4. Select two scholarly sources to      use in your paper, in addition to the textbook. For each source, write      down the author information, date of publication, title of the article,      the publication information (journal title), and the database from which      you retrieved the article. You will need this information when you create      your references for the sources.
  5. Begin the writing process. You      are going to compare the points of view offered by these authors (the      author of your textbook and the authors of the two scholarly sources you      have selected) on your selected topic, and then offer your own point of      view based upon your analysis of the readings.
    • The Ashford Writing Center       (AWC) offers assistance with the writing process. The AWC contains many       tutorials and offers online guides for how to develop an academic paper.       Click on the Writing Center link under “Learning Resources” in the left       navigation of this course to visit the AWC.

Criteria for Grading
You will be graded on how well your paper meets the following criteria:

  1. Demonstrate your knowledge of      your chosen topic.
  2. Use appropriate examples from      the textbook and selected scholarly sources to support your points.
  3. Incorporate appropriate and      relevant quotes from the discussion forum activities.
  4. Prepare at least one paragraph      for each of your three sources (the textbook and two scholarly sources)      that include an accurate summary of the points made by the      author(s).
  5. Prepare at least one paragraph      for each of your three sources showing your thoughtful analysis of the      point of view introduced by the authors.
  6. Prepare at least two paragraphs      illustrating how the authors of those three sources agree or disagree with      one another about the topic.
  7. Prepare at least two paragraphs      that reflect your own point of view and provide a conclusion about your      chosen topic.

Format your paper properly. In your paper you:

  • Must use Microsoft Word.
  • Must include a proper title      page.
  • Must use correct APA formatting      for an academic paper (see the Ashford Writing Center tutorial).
  • Must cite all sources in-text      per APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • Must include between five to      seven pages (not including the title and references pages).
  • Must review all pages for      proper grammar and use the Spell Check function in Microsoft Word before      submitting your work.

The Ashford Writing Center (AWC) has two kinds of tutoring available to you.

  • Live Chat – If you have      writing-related questions about a topic before you draft a discussion post      or submit a written assignment, you will now be able to chat live with a      tutor for up to 20 minutes. Live Chat will be available Monday through      Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.      (PST).
  • Email Paper Review – If you      have a draft, partial draft, or are just having trouble getting started,      you can complete a submission form and email your paper to the AWC for      review.
    • Writing tutors will do their       best to return your paper with their comments within 48 hours, not       including Saturdays and Sundays. Please plan accordingly if you would       like to receive feedback before an assignment due date.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
